Terms of Service
By checking “I agree” on the Kairos website (before revealing or copying the install command, or before checkout) or by completing checkout after that agreement, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use Kairos.
1. What Kairos is
Kairos is proprietary desktop software that keeps a local journal of activity on your computer. It is not open-source and is not licensed under the MIT License or any other open-source license. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved.
2. License to use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Kairos on devices you own or control, for your own personal or internal business journaling — not for redistributing Kairos itself or building a competing product.
The free trial and any paid subscription (via Polar checkout) are part of this license. Paid access continues while your subscription remains in good standing; cancel anytime through Manage billing / the Polar customer portal.
3. No competitive use
You agree that you will not, directly or indirectly:
- use Kairos, its design, documentation, or any non-public information you obtain through using it, to build, design, train, evaluate, operate, or improve a product or service that competes with Kairos;
- copy, clone, or reimplement Kairos’s distinctive features, UX, or architecture for a competing product;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble Kairos except to the limited extent that applicable law expressly prohibits this restriction;
- redistribute, sublicense, rent, lease, or publicly host Kairos binaries or installers without our prior written consent;
- remove or obscure proprietary notices.
This section is a material term. If you breach it, your license ends immediately and we may seek injunctive relief and any other remedies available at law.
4. Your journal data
Journal data is stored on your machine under your control. You may export or wipe it using the product’s features. We do not host your journal contents as part of the default product. See our Privacy Policy.
5. Accounts, billing, and keys
Kairos does not require a traditional user account to install. Checkout uses your Kairos ID and payment provider (Polar). License keys are for activating paid access on your devices. Do not share keys publicly. Recover lost keys via the recover flow using your Kairos ID and the purchase email.
6. Acceptable use
You will not use Kairos to violate law, harm others, or circumvent these Terms (including by using someone else’s license key without permission).
7. Early access & no warranty
Kairos is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Kairos will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any specific use.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jami’s total liability arising out of or related to Kairos or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for Kairos in the three months before the claim, or (b) USD $50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of data, profits, or business, even if advised of the possibility.
9. Termination
You may stop using Kairos anytime (uninstall / wipe). We may terminate or suspend your license if you breach these Terms. Sections that by nature should survive (including §§3, 7, 8, 10, and 11) survive termination.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in India have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms by posting a new version with a new version date. Material changes for paid subscribers will be highlighted on the site. Continued use after the effective date, or a fresh clickwrap acceptance, constitutes agreement to the updated Terms.
12. Contact
Questions about these Terms: use the contact / support channels listed on kairos.intentsync.dev, or the purchase email thread from Polar checkout.
This page is the controlling Terms document for Kairos. Footer links alone are not acceptance — you accept by the affirmative checkbox (or equivalent) on install or checkout flows.
